About Minnesota Public Radio
Minnesota Public Radio® is one of the nation’s premier public radio organizations. With headquarters in the heart of downtown St. Paul, Minnesota Public Radio operates a regional network of 35 stations, covering Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin, the Dakotas, Michigan, Iowa and Idaho. These stations broadcast classical music or news and information — or a combination of the two — reaching nearly 670,000 listeners a week*. American Public Media,™ the national production and distribution arm of Minnesota Public Radio, is the second-largest producer and distributor of national public radio programs. Each week, 11.9 million listeners* hear its national programs, which include A Prairie Home Companion®, Marketplace®, Saint Paul Sunday®, American Mavericks® and Pipedreams.® In addition, American Public Media’s national documentary unit, American RadioWorks®, produces hour-long programs on major social and economic issues. More information about American Public Media can be found on its Web site, www.americanpublicmedia.us. A comprehensive Web site, www.mpr.org, augments Minnesota Public Radio's programming, offering audio archives of all programs, forum discussions, blogs, as well as additional information and features. Live webcasts feature A Prairie Home Companion at the Fitzgerald Theater plus a variety of special events. Live events produced by Minnesota Public Radio range from a regional book club and onstage performances to political debates and rural community forums. Many of these events take place at the Fitzgerald Theater, a historic theater owned by Minnesota Public Radio. Minnesota Public Radio was founded in 1967 as a college station in Collegeville, Minnesota. *Source: Data are copyright Arbirton, Inc. Arbitron data are estimates only. Fall 2003. |
